Character Name: Conan Edogawa (real name: Shinichi Kudo)

Appearance: Conan has slightly messy brown hair that he keeps short with bangs that fall into wide blue eyes. Despite the fact that he has perfect vision he wears eye-glasses as a form of disguise so that Ran (and others) won't figure out that he's really Shinichi in a smaller/younger body. Given that he looks like a six-year-old, Conan is definitely on the short side. His clothing is generally normal although it tends to be on the dorky side at times if you count the bow tie he wears (although that too has a practical purpose like his eye-glasses in that it is a voice-modifier).
Personality: A young man with a sharp wit and even sharper eye, Conan is a true-blue mystery novel fan. His love for mysteries more than likely derives from the fact that his own father is a mystery novelist. Even at an early age, Conan showed signs of being extremely intuitive. Despite the fact that he cannot do much as a six-year-old Conan tends to play the hero in most situations not wanting to see others hurt. He's very stubborn at times and never gives up on a something until it is resolved. Conan tends to be rather sarcastic at times although this could be due to the fact that because of his appearance he is constantly treated like a kid who won't understand 'grown up' matters and he finds the whole thing very frustrating.

Since he has to hide the fact that he is really a 16 year old and Shinichi he tends to act far more naïve, innocent, and happy-go-lucky when he's pretending to be Conan.
Abilities: He has keen eyes and great observational skills that come in handy being a detective. He's extremely smart but also athletic from his days as Shinichi playing soccer. His small body inhibits this athleticism in various ways but he retains his quick reflexes as well as sharp wit. He has some basic computer hacking skills as well as sharp-shooting.
Weaknesses: As mentioned above his smaller body and age greatly inhibit and strength he might have had as a teenager (including endurance and speed as well) although arguably it's greater than what it would be for a normal child. Another weakness is his curiosity and need for a challenge as this often gets him into trouble he could have otherwise avoided. He doesn't like being a kid or small at all and hates being underestimated because of it which often leads to him acting a bit too rash at times in order to prove himself.

History:
Originally Conan was Shinichi Kudo, a teenager and high school student in Japan whose parents were both famous (father a novelist and mother an actress) he grew up with a some-what normal life aside from that and the fact his father often took him to crime scenes at a young age. Shinichi developed a love for mysteries because of this and decided he would become a detective himself. He discovered he as pretty darn good at solving crimes too and quickly became famous in his area, earning titles such as 'Detective of the East' as well as 'Savior of the Police Force.'

At the age of 14 his parents decided to move to the United States to further pursue their own careers and he was left to finish his schooling with their next door neighbor and family friend Dr. Agasa looking after him. Shinichi continued to solve cases with the police as well as continue to hone his soccer skills until he was 16. It is during this time that he becomes involved in a case that changes him, while taking Ran to the amusement park nearby he witnesses a suspicious exchange between a man in black and a businessman. He discovers it is blackmail over an arms deal and while taking pictures for evidence the man in black's accomplice sneaks up on him and takes him out. While unconscious Shinichi is given an experimental drug that is supposed to kill him and leave no trace of it.

The men leave him for dead but it doesn't happen. Instead, Shinichi's body reacts adversely to the poison and instead of killing him; it reverses his age to that of a six-year-old. Upon awakening, Shinichi doesn't realize what has happened at first but when he does discover it he goes to the only person he can think of who will believe him, Dr. Agasa. Dr. Agasa suggests Shinichi take on a disguise so that the men who thought they had killed him would think he was really dead. Grabbing a pair of glasses (since Ran and others he's known since youth would recognize him) he takes on the name Conan Edogawa (based on two of his favorite mystery novel authors) and goes to stay with Ran and her father, Conan even goes so far (though against his will) as to enroll in a local elementary school. Ran's father is a horrible detective but since he is in the business Conan uses it as a resource to attempt and discover more about the men in black or Black Organization, in order to return his body to normal. In the meantime, Conan solves numerous other cases helping to build Ran's father's reputation as a detective.

On May 21st, Conan, along with Ran and her father, make a trip to New York in order to meet Conan's "parents" (Shinichi's parents in disguise). Little did they realize the events that would unfold the following day. When the monster attacked Manhattan, Conan didn't know WHAT was going on but while attempting to evacuate he was separated from Ran and her father. Conan was lucky enough not to run into the creature itself or the crabs but he heard a lot of the panic and was eventually pulled off the streets by a young couple who were obviously worried about a six-year-old boy wandering the 'infested' streets alone.

Until recently Conan has been kept under strict supervision by the couple but eventually he manages to sneak away to try to make contact with any other survivors. As of now he has come to the conclusion that it was an extremely severe terrorist attack and is determined to find some way to get back with Ran.
